Bad english? Me?!

Hey, I never realized the weirdness of my pronounciation of certain words till I came here. I say Tuesday like "chusday" and everyone else says "toosday". And I say "bedruhm" while its supposedly supposed to be "bedrooom". What the heck? And nobody else here says aircon, I get teased sometimes (although I know its valid abbreviation). Aaah! Its disturbing! :P to think that I might be wrong... English is my first language... have I really been saying things wrong? When I go back to Manila I'm going to check everyone around me.. I bet Joyce says "chusday" and "bedruhm" too... aii! What do you guys think? :P

Replying to Tanika: Exactly, that's the point of Audioblogger because then I can actually hear messages from you.. and leave em for you as posts to the blog, because it doesn't depend on geographic location at all. At the moment I can only talk to Adhira and Josie (at school), I miss your and Gracia's voices!

Thanksgiving break is only a few days long, and it starts today. Christmas break is this December -- I've found out that I'll spend the first half in Hong Kong, then the second in Manila. Adhira's not coming back to Manila this december (I'm so sad!) First you Tani, then Gracia, now Adhira? :( waaa at least I shall have Josie, and some other people like Asti, Tae-Yeoun and Devika :P I miss you guys... and feel so distant...

Thanksgiving break looks like it will be fun though :P though most people are gone!

IM

yeah... I'm hardly online anymore.. not msn nor aim. And I hardly update my blog and LJ anymore (except when I'm trying to avoid doing these papers!!). grr.. laziness...

And, more importantly: Tanika: Congrats!! That's really awesome =) Any picture of you two for us? =P

hey cuties

Hum is humanities class :P We have different themed sections, Josie and I have this class together :) Congrats on hitting two years, Tani! It's awesome how you and Eddy have been together so long, especially having lived so far away for a while. What are you guys doing for your anniversary? If you celebrate these things :P

I know how you feel about internet forums, I don't use em anymore though because they're such huge time-sucks. Its kind of like IM anyway, people misinterpret each other and they're only really fun when there's stuff to argue about (I used to go around poking fights on music forums, hee hee).

I get around to changing the colors this thanksgiving break, since I'm sticking around here with Josie and some other mudd people. In the meantime there is this huge research paper standing between me and break! aaaaah!

Yay, I'm glad nobody minds getting rid of commenting -- I was tired of having to click here and there in order to see people's responses. I actually have something additional in mind for the blog too, I talked over it with Adhira~ its this thing called Audioblogger, where we can post voice messages to the blog by calling a phone number. It would be nice to hear your voices! It's sad, I can only call Adhira and Josie. Also, I think it'd be nice for you Tani, maybe since you don't like typing too much! :P

Complain! (sort of...)

So... I guess the idea of posting instead of commenting is pretty clever. (Encouraging everybody to post!) On the other hand, though, we can't tell the difference between the 'real'/major/really-important posts and the comments. I'm okay with it, though..

And, just a suggestion, if you're changing the background to black, I think we need to change the whole 'color scheme'? Meaning, maybe we should change the link color to grey or something, and change the blogger bar to black instead of blue. (On a second thought, I will do the blogger bar thing now. Feel free to change it back to whatever color later).

and.. yeah! Our hum class rocks! (Hey, margie, did you stay during the tetris-attack thing last night? There were Ben and his comments as usual...)

One or two changes :D

One or two changes to the blog~ I took off comments because I think it's nicer and much more personal for us to write our responses as posts on the blog, and have them successively posted like a long and beautiful conversation :)

I also made the background of the page dark blue because I think its easier on the eyes :P as well as made the text darker. I'm also thinking of revamping the template somewhat over thanksgiving~ maybe. Keep posting! You don't have to always post pictures, just write what you feel like in an email :P

Okay, just my thoughts. Feel free to complain! ;)

Josie's and my hum class prank

Last Tuesday our hum class played a prank on our prof by moving out all the uncomfortable green chairs in the classroom to the outside of Thomas-Garrett, and everyone brought their own comfy chairs! It was lovely, and there was even a couch brought from Howard's suite in Sontag :P. The classes after us also got to be comfy as well, because we left all our chairs there for the day. I discovered that its surprisingly easy to move a couch, if you use two skateboards underneath. It's lucky Mudd is such a small campus ;) It was awesome!

These are pictures that Josie (aka Tia) took!

Yes, we realize the pictures are all of guys. Well, that's because our hum class has only 3 girls, strangely enough (none of the other sections are so girl-deprived) :D Whatever, our hum class rocks!

~ hey, how come the last three posts are all by me? Cmon jeeks, post!

Social Security

I'm SO angry I can't even speak. It's been more than a month since I applied for a social security card, and I still haven't received it in the mail (and the fuckers said 8 to 10 days). Then when I call the office, they say they have no record AT ALL of me even applying, so I should go there and apply again. OMG. I've already been the stupid office in Pomona, full of people (and waited 3 fucking hours each time) and I had to miss class for it (and readjust my entire schedule to go to other classes) and I HAVE TO GO AGAIN! And I have to call up Iplace so I can get a ride there, and I HATE IT, IT IS SO STUPID.

I HATE THIS STUPID COUNTRY. I am so mad, I'm crying right now. I hate them, I hate them, I hate them all. They make me feel like a fucking immigrant (bastards), I followed all their stupid rules and I still get fucked over. Sorry I am cursing so much, but I am just so angry :'(

I'm thinking of just forgetting about the whole thing, I'll come back to Manila and apply through the US embassy there. I'm just so tired and frustrated and we have tests and research papers due soon and I don't want to think about this anymore. I have enough money on my debit card (even tho they closed my account) to live on till then.

p.s. Despite this horribleness, life is good at Mudd. But stressful, with lots of work. But I'm doing well enough in school, and am getting to know more people every day.

Different Accents in English archive

Okay, so I posted this up on my blog earlier, but this is the sort of thing we're into, fellow jeeks! So I feel compelled to share it with you guys. Go to:

http://classweb.gmu.edu/accent/

It's so awesome, it's this archive of different accents in english. Singaporean is not on there, but the Filipino, Cantonese, etc accents made me feel somewhat nostalgic. (Gracia you should totally submit yourself, your accent is so unique! And Josie (Tia), you've such a cute Indonesian accent :D) The southern accents are funny, and the english accents are so cool. But coolest of all is the 'ewe' accent, check it out! The dude sounds like a door to door salesman! (maybe you could talk like that Gracia) :D teehee

Tell me what you think. Let's have some discussion on here! :D

I did my part

but we failed :( I'm sorry dears, yesterday I voted for Kerry (under the state of California) and yes, California went to the Democrats but swing state Florida and normally Democratic Nevada betrayed us. So Bush is gonna be the next american president for the next four years... I am so pissed :( esp at the archaic, stupid, electoral college system, it sucks major ass. Why does everyone else in America except for the Northeast, and the West coast vote Republican? Why why why why? Its never been *more* clear who the better candidate is.

Oh well... I put my vote in thinking of you guys, and all our little political talks... I hope that thought counts.

You know, I wish they would also hold parallel mock elections in other countries around the world. To show Americans what foreigners think, even if many of them will probably not care...

Love,
margie

p.s. Btw have no worries, my friends here are all very staunch Democrats.. its California! So Josie and I live in a very nice and liberal environment. And little Juhi lives in Pennsylvania, which voted Democratic too! So yes, none of us live in a hick republican town or anything... just in case you cute UKers were wondering :D
