I miss u guys (not much though) i have friends here who are cooler and more fun than u guys :P theres a whole bunch of international people... Classes started today... i m freaking out... i have home work on the very first day of class!!! i also have a math quiz tom!!!

grace, that's a real surprise!!! so you're going to manchester at last! anyway.... both of your uni's are good, so ... i think it will be fun either way.

so... grace and tani, are you guys going to meet up somewhere (london, maybe?)

we went to see a movie on saturday, 'The Manchurian Candidate', which is really cool. then we all went to the beach, Venice Beach, near a place called santa monica. we spent time in the beach for around 8 hours, and a whole bunch of people got heavily sunburned. i rented a bike for the whole day (ugh... pretty expensive, but it was fun. i'm planning to buy a bike for my own).

we were having our first 'class' at mudd today. it's math. and it's really cool (although i was a bit tormented in the beginning -- but that's just my fear.) the professors started up with complex numbers. and it ended up with fractals. i was reading a book on chaos/fractals/dynamical systems, mandelbrot set , julia set, etc. but i didn't really understand what the heck was going on in the book. after the lecture, wow! it's really cool! i finally get a more real picture of what they're actually about. the profs are cool. they just came into the classroom wearing shorts (probably because formally, it's still a vacation time).

we're going to have math tomorrow as well, and bio for 2 days afterwards.

we watched the movie 'pi' just now. it's a really cool movie. you guys have to see it too.

margie: next to the TV place where we were watching the movie, there is a gymnastics room, and I saw people already in there, with some backpacks and sleeping bags. i guess they're some of the hiking mentors. i remember that you guys will spend one night in the gym, right? maybe it's there. i can't wait till you come! 2 more days!!!

Hi darling Josie! It's so cool how we got to pseudo-chat through the LJ comments thingie. And YES!! you are in Case. From the map that means you're right next to me (in Atwood, 227)! Was worried that you'd be in the central dorms, far away.

So how's your roomie like? Are you rooming with someone else in SI? What's Tina like? I know I said this on your LJ already, but I'm arriving 2:30 pm or so on Aug 18, so I'll come to where you're staying to visit you. About staying overnight there, I have no clue. According to the hike people, I'm stayin with a couple of the leaders and a few frosh who are coming a day early too -- not sure where that is but it could be at Atwood too (since that seems to be the summer dorm)!

I'm getting more excited by the day, can't wait to see you again!

p.s. For the benefit of Tanika, I'll give an update on what the jeeks have been doing the past few days. Only 60% of us are here :P Adhira's leaving on the 15th, me on the 18th, and tonight we're going over to Adhira's for dinner (also in attendance will be Asako and some Indian family friends of hers). This morning I played tennis. Asako and Gracia were supposed to be with me, but they ditched (horrible people who couldn't wake up on time!). Yesterday I met up with Gracia and Shyama for dessert at Podium. Um, and before that Gracia went out with me and Asti. That's as far back as I can remember.. and I'm sorry for not blogging! I only got net access two days ago :P Normally only about 4 posts go by here without me putting a word in too.

to anyone who cares, my blog address is now hkmargie.tk. The old one works, but it's numbers and difficult to remember. Did you guys know we have a "rival"? Well, not really~ but the Devika, Joanne, Grace C, Geoffrey, So Eun people have a closed LJ community of their own. It's slightly older than ours, but we are far more colorful! Anyway, they've seen ours (obviously because it's so open).

What do you think of the new look? (the chili peppers are representative of the heat and spice of our conversations together)

Harvey Mudd ROCKS!!!

hi everybody! I hope you guys are having fun times where ever you are (btw, do we write 'where ever' or 'whereever' ?). I am having a WONDERFUL time here :D

Even after I decided to attend Mudd, I still wondered what it would be to attend Imperial -- in a way, I sort of regretted that I decided to go to Mudd instead of Imperial. But after seeing the campus for myself, and the people, of course, no regrets! :)

There are 13 guys and 13 girls in this program. THey are nice people :) The majority of the guys is pretty shy and quiet; and actually, also is the majority of the girls. I mean, quiet compared to ... let's say... the average people in the world. There are also the friendly and talkative type, but still less talkative than the talkative people in the world (ugh... bell curve shifted ;) ) THere is a joke between us and the mentors of the summer program (the mentors are sophomores- they are awesome and super-friendly), that the guy-mentors should give a social lesson to the guys since on the first days we were kind of separated by gender (the guys on one side of the room/court and the girls on the other) i.e. how to talk to girls etc. somebody said that in MIT, they actually do give a lesson like that (how to flirt with girls, and so on...) , which is... funny :D THey are really nice and fun, actually :)

Oh by the way....

Adhira, my mom said you called the day I left! Maybe I should have called when I left home. my dad didn't bring his cellphone, so my mom couldnt call him and let me know about it...

Margie: God, Harvey Mudd is heaven! You will definitely LOVE it here!

Tanika: I asked the school (before I left) to send a certified copy of my IB stuff.. but mr knight wasn't there still.. I don't know if you've tried to contact him. (uh.. by now he's in school already, i guess :P )

Grace: Hey, you still have my periodic table!! hehe... maybe you should keep it for a while. it's kind of complicated to return it through people, isn't it?

we did a couple of tests today. chem and math assessment tests. chem is easy - only 5 questions and they're the really basic stoichiometry ones. no calculator though, so it's hard to get the ratios etc. the math one is so hard! i forget a lot of calculus stuff already (fortunately, so do everybody else! - at least, that's what they said).

Claremont is a really nice town, but really small - I haven't gone around much, but I'm pretty srue it's about the size of dasma and the two forbes put together). Next door is another town called Montclair (not really creative, right?). There are a lot of cars passing by the streets, but I hardly see anybody walking around the streets here.

I'm writing from one of their computer labs in a building called Linde Activity Center - it has nice gathering space and... a gym! hehehe .. :D Anyway... I'll write more later. Margie, I hope I can see you when you get here on the 19th!
